Solder Wire. (Used to tin the solder iron, also used to solder the tab cells on the buss wire).
Flux Pen. Prevents beading of the solder.
Strapping Tape (sure tape).
Regular tape.
(useful to hold the solar cells).
Sillicone Paste-like seal (UV christaline).

✦ Polycrystalline Solar Cells
+ The process used to make polycrystalline silicon is simpler and cost less.
+ Polycrystalline solar panels tend to have slightly lower heat tolerance than monocrystalline solar panels.
– The efficiency of polycrystalline-based solar panels is 14-16%.
– Lower space-efficiency. You need to cover more surface to output the same electrical power as Monocrystalline cells.

✦ Monocrystalline Solar Cells
+ Monocrystalline solar cells have the highest efficiency rates.
+ Monocrystalline silicon solar cells are space-efficient.
+ Monocrystalline cells have a long lifespan.
+ Monocrystalline solar panels tend to be more efficient in warm weather.
– Monocrystalline solar panels are the most expensive.

    Here's a uestion I been wondering…. Is it better for me to use (3) – 100 watt panels or just buy (1) – 24v 300W panel ?

    I am a just starting out newbie… I have a MPPT 20A Controller, 100ah amg Battery and the system is 12V
    and a (2000/4000 Pure Sine Inverter)

    Both serial and parallel connection have their advantages and dis-advantages. In serial you get higher voltage and thereby lower wire loss. But the downside of serial connection, is that it is very vulnerabel to shading. So if just a tiny part of one panel is shaded, then the total power output will drop significantly.
    On the other hand, parallel connection gives lower voltage, and thereby more wire loss. But is much less vulnerabel to shading.

    Yes, it was real helpful because what I needed to know was at the end. I had 2 strings of panels in series and the two strings were then connected in parallel. I wanted to find out if I could add a 5th panel to one of the strings, but no, that would make the voltage uneven, that's what I needed to know. Thanks

    Sorry but how did calculate 8 amps when doing your example? If have three 1v solar solar panels and connected them in series i would have .4 amps flowing in and out of my array?

    Quick question…I have a Victron 150/85 solar controller with 950 solar panels. I also have 1200 amps of battery bank (Lifeline). How should I run my panels? Series or Parallel? I have 10 guage wire from my panels to my controller. If I go parallel, do you recommend I go with 6 guage wire instead?
